Simplicity makes a lot of difference. It makes one serve the nation and reach greater heights in life, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Director Grade-I B. Ramakrishna Rao has said.
Explaining the achievements of Nobel Laureate Sir C.V. Raman on the occasion of his 126th birth anniversary celebrations organised by the Department of Physics, Electronics and Computer Science at Mrs. A.V.N. College here on Thursday, Dr. Rao explained how distinguished personalities had transcended boundaries to achieve their goals and continue to make an impact.
“I started my career in the DRDO as senior technical officer and have become a Director. DRDO, initiated in the year 1962 with one or two laboratories, has 60 labs catering to the needs of the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force. One of the basic concepts of our establishment is to assimilate ideas by distributing project works to various educational institutions. That way, we can exchange views, widen our knowledge, and align teamwork,” he said. Vice-Chairperson of the college A. Indrani Jagga Row said: “I am proud to say that Sir C.V. Raman had started developing scientific thoughts sitting in one of the classrooms of the college. The seed sown in our college had bloomed into a flower. His effort, grit, and commitment are some of the qualities that one has to imbibe. The present generation should know about the global figure in a much broader sense and strive to make a mark.”
The session concluded with a technical presentation followed by interactive session between the students and Dr. Ramakrishna Rao, who gave a PowerPoint presentation on the technologies involved in Electronic Warfare Antennas and the career prospects in the three domains of the DRDO — administrative, technical, and scientific.
College correspondent Adeep Bhanoji Row, college principal Vedula Perraju, and HoD of Physics, Electronics, and Computer Science Department and vice-principal T.L. Rambabu, among others, garlanded the bronze bust of Sir C.V. Raman on the college premises.
