As part of the Community Policing initiative of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 32 tribal youth were given their driving licences after completion of a rigorous 42-day training.
Rigorous trainingIn a bid to provide sustainable livelihood to the tribal youth the city-based 198 Battalion CRPF in association with the district police put the 32 youth through a 42-day rigorous training session to master light motor vehicle driving, Commandant 198 Bn Nisheet Kumar said.
The candidates who successfully completed the training programme and earned their licences were handed over their licences by Anakapalle RTO Saleem and certificates at a function organised at Paderu in the district on Tuesday.
The youth were also given away blankets, track suits and shoes, among others at the function.
Additional SP Paderu Fakkeerappa Kaginelli, PO ITDA Paderu Vinay Chauhan, CRPF deputy commandants Naresh Yadav and P. Kishore were present.
Under the leadership of CRPF South Zone IG N.R.K. Reddy, the 198 Bn has taken up its Community Policing intitiative on a mission mode and has been conducting a number of activities in the Agency areas of the district in association with the district police and other departments. The battalion is soon to begin training programmes in computers, horticulture and tailoring.
These would provide an opportunity to the unemployed tribal youth to take up a sustainable livelihood.
Noble initiativeThe initiative would go a long way in weaning away the unemployed tribal youth from taking the path of violence and extremism, the Commandant said.
