‘Team work led to arrest of three members of inter-State burglar gang’
Police Commissioner B. Sivadhar Reddy commended his men for the prompt arrest of three of a four-member inter-State gang of burglars and recovery of stolen property a few hours after the accused had committed the crime.
It may be recalled that three of the four-member gang, which committed a burglary at Duvvada on Tuesday morning, was arrested at Gullipadu village of Nakkapalli mandal the same afternoon.
Giving details to the media here on Wednesday, the Police Commissioner appreciated his men for their team work and coordination with the rural police, which led to the arrest of the gang members. All the members of the gang hail from Uttar Pradesh.
He underlined the need for hotels and lodges to install CC cameras and keep a backup of the images of guests staying with them. The accused – Akbar Kureshi (30), Siri Bhagavan Giri (28), and Md. Yousuf (58) were arrested while Saleem Kuresh is absconding.
The gang was involved in six day house-breakings and a robbery under Duvvada Zone Police Station and an assault on a public servant at Nakkapalli. They had stolen 400 gm gold in these cases. A total of 1,400 gm gold ornaments, Rs.5,700, and a car bearing registration No. DL 3 C BP 3646 was recovered from them. The total value of property recovered was Rs.47,05,700. The Commissioner said that investigation was on to find out from where they had stolen the remaining gold ornaments.
