The CPI will be in fray for the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha and Paderu, Payakaraopeta, Gajuwaka and either Visakha East or Visakha South Assembly segments in the district in the May general elections, its district secretary J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy said at a press conference at Narsipatnam on Monday.

Special attention would be paid to Paderu Assembly segment from where former two-time MLA G. Demudu would be in fray, he said(Mr. Demudu was elected twice from Chintapalli Assembly segment which was eliminated in the reorganisation exercise and merged with Paderu segment).

A list of candidates has been sent to the State leadership for other seats and names of contestants would be announced once they were cleared, Mr. Murthy said. Talks on alliance with other left parties were still continuing but CPI was ready to fight the elections on its own, he said.
