The Communist Party of India (CPI) has demanded reversal of the decision to banish Ruttala Yerrapatrudu from the district and sought lifting of the cases foisted on him.

In a letter to the district Collector on Friday, CPI district council secretary J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy said it was unfortunate that Yerrapatrudu, who was fighting for the cause of the people who had lost their lands during the acquisition of lands for construction of the alumina plant of Anrak company at Makavarapalem, was being implicated in false cases at the behest of the Anrak management.

Mr. Murthy described the decision to banish Yerrapatrudu, who was fighting for the cause of the displaced persons, as undemocratic and infringing on his right to personal freedom. He demanded review of the decision.
