The duo is suspected to have committed suicide by consuming poison mixed in a soft drink reportedly due to mounting debts.

G. Venkatesh (44), a contractor, and his wife, G. Hemalatha (38), residents of Muralinagar in the city, left home in their car on Tuesday morning after informing their sons that they would return home in the evening.

Sons lodge complaint Their sons became anxious after their parents did not return home even after 8 p.m. and their mobile phones were ‘switched off’.

They informed their relatives and lodged a complaint at the Kancharapalem Police Station.

The relatives found them lying dead in a car. Bheemunipatnam Inspector S. Lakshmana Murthy got the bodies shifted to King George Hospital for post-mortem.

Police suspect that Venkatesh had taken loans from some persons for business and had incurred losses, which could have driven the couple to take the extreme step.
