The heat is on and it's time to switch over to cool cotton fabrics that allow your skin to breathe.
The Jeevan Jyothi Rural Development Society has set up ‘Crafts Bazaar' at Viswapriya Function Hall, offering a huge range of handloom fabrics for the season.
Tussar silk, pure silk, South cottons, Bengal cotton, imported cotton, Mangalagiri cotton with screen print, block print, and Kalamkari print, and Kota sarees draw women's attention. Dress materials from Jaipur, Mangalagiri, Bandini suites, Kalamkari materials with silk dupattas are available.
Apart from fabrics, sandals from Agra, Rajasthan, and Kanpur, along with eco-friendly flip flops, are eye-catching.
In addition, there are stalls that offer Sarangapur wooden works, jute bags from Kolkata, Hyderabad pearls, Guntur khadi fabrics, floating flowers and hand-made vases from Bangalore, handloom bedspreads, semi-precious stones, ear-rings, and bead accessories.
There are about 100 stalls to visit and shop under one roof. “The aim of conducting such exhibitions is to provide an opportunity for the artisans to showcase their skills and provide them employment,” said secretary of Jivan Jyothi Rural Development Society Aatin Jaiswal.
“Customers stand to gain as they are offered manufacturer's price and the artisans gain profit as no middlemen are involved,” he said.
The exhibition will continue till April 9.
