The traditional art needs to be patronised by getting exposed to the aesthetic beauty of the centuries old dance form-Kuchipudi. Stressing on its global recognition, the third International Kuchipudi Dance convention with the theme-‘Yuvatha Kuchipudi Bhavitha’, will be held in Hyderabad at Gachibowli Sports Complex starting from December 23, said SiliconAndhra founder and chairman Anand Kuchibhotla.
The conventions help in leaving better impact among youth, encouraging them to pursue the art at a young age and retaining its popularity, he said at the fourth poster launch meet held in the city on Saturday. The objective is to create nation-wide awareness on Kuchipudi and to unite thousands of talented dancers at one place, he said. “Every two years we organise such programme to provide livelihood to the traditional dancers and create a platform to exhibit the art. More than 6, 000 dancers across the world will be attending the convention,” he said.
Famous Kuchipudi dancers like Sobha Naidu, Raja Reddy, Radha Reddy, Yamini Krishnamurthy and Bala Kondala Rao and Bharani Shenkar are expected to participate in the international convention. Paper presentation, workshops, seminar, panel discussions and lecture demonstrations form a part of the three-day celebrations. The city’s Kuchipudi dancer Bharani Shenkar and Rachana, Visakha Humour Club secretary Nanduri Prabhakar and others were present during the poster launch.
On the concluding day, a group of 4,000 dancers will be performing Brunda Natyam comprising ‘Brahmanjali’ and ‘Dasavatharam’. Participants should register their names, paying a fee of Rs. 600 on or before October 30. Registrations will be accepted up to November 30 with an extra fee of Rs.100.
