Vizag Conventions has received the Indian Green Building Council’s Silver rating for incorporating green building features.

According to its managing director P.V. Narasimha Rao, the rating has been given under (IGBC) Green New Building concept making it the first convention centre in Andhra Pradesh to get the coveted status. Working in coordination with IGBC, architects incorporated energy efficient air-conditioning, solar panels, rainwater harvesting and water recycling.

While use of energy efficient air conditioners has improved performance by 30 %, efficient water fixtures reduced water consumption by 25%, Mr. Narasimha Rao told reporters here. Taking inspiration from the rating, Vizag Conventions would play a catalytic role in promoting green concepts.
