Consumer rights in digital age discussed

Consumer organisations held programmes to mark the World Consumer’s Rights Day in the city on Saturday and discussed issues related to consumer rights.

At a programme organised by the Visakha Consumer’ Council, speakers discussed issues under this year’s theme - Consumer’s rights in digital age-fix our phone rights. Honorary chairman of the council and former Vice-Chancellor of AU K.V. Ramana presided.

Legal Metrology Assistant Controller Madhuri, John Prasad of IOC, VCC vice-president M. Venkata Rao and secretary P. Rama Rao explained how the consumers must be vigilant while making purchases. Their rights were also explained and tips about using mobile phones in a sage way were also told.

Andhra University Registrar K. Rama Mohana Rao was the chief guest of a programme organised by the Consumer’s Protection Council of Visakhapatnam. Civil Judge and Lok Adalat Secretary A. Venugopala Rao explained about the acts protecting the consumer and how to make use of them.

SAN Moulali and his troupe presented a skit on creating awareness for consumers. Council Secretary P.K. Lingeswara Rao and others were present.
