The Congress government was conducting the cooperative elections in an undemocratic manner, misusing its power, spending money and postponing elections in the PACS where it would lose, MLA of Payakaraopeta and YSR Congress leader G. Babu Rao said here on Sunday.
The Congress was celebrating at places where it had not actually won and the party and the Telugu Desam were colluding with each other to win PACS, he alleged at a press conference.
The government was claiming that it was spending huge amounts on the welfare of SCs and STs and brought in Sub-Plans but it did not bother to reserve PACS or DCCB president posts for SCs and STs, Mr. Babu Rao said. He asserted that people had not forgotten the benefits they received during Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s rule and were eager to see Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy as Chief Minister.
Party leader and former Chairman of the AP Science and Technology Commission Koyya Prasada Reddy said if the results of the first phase of PACS elections were analysed taking into consideration the number of MLAs a party has and the PACS it has won, YSR Congress’ performance was excellent. This while the party decided not to participate in the elections, which of course are being held on non-party basis, and the local party supporters took up the electioneering on their own, he said. Performance of Congress in Assembly segments of district Ministers P. Balaraju and Ganta Srinivasa Rao was poor, he said. While in Mr. Srinivasa Rao constituency the Congress lost many PACS, the party got the elections postponed in many PACS in Mr. Balaraju’s Assembly segment afraid of losing. Another leader G.V. Raviraju said the Congress had made mockery of the elections and misusing its power to win as many PACS with the possibility of DCCB president (B. Satya Rao, who met Mr. Jagan at Chenchelguda Central Jail a few days ago) joining the YSR Congress.
