Congress demands judicial probe

A judicial inquiry should be ordered into the alleged suicide of B.Arch. student of Acharya Nagarjuna University M. Rithikeswari and her family be paid Rs. 25 lakh as ex-gratia by the State government, APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy demanded here on Friday.

The government must appoint efficient persons as heads of universities through a transparent process and avoid political appointments to avoid such sad events on a university campus, he told reporters. Only a judicial inquiry would unearth the truth and the persons responsible for her suicide and since those responsible for the incident or those who failed to discharge their duties were being supported by outside elements, he said.
