Call to elect the BJP-Telugu Desam alliance candidates in the State.

The Bharatiya Janata Party is committed to protect the interests of the State and develop it, party State unit president K. Haribabu has said.

Speaking at Meet the Press organised by the Vizag Journalists’ Forum here on Tuesday, the BJP candidate for Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency and president of AP State unit said that the party was keen on avoiding the mistakes of centralised development followed in the unified state of Andhra Pradesh.

As a part of decentralised development, the party proposed to reorganise the districts by increasing their number. “It is becoming difficult for the district administration to coordinate between more than one MP and also it is a problem for the MPs to be coordinating with multiple officers, he pointed out.

The party proposes to establish State Maritime Board to leverage the advantage of the long coastline making it contribute to the overall development of society. The tax incentives for the residuary State of Andhra Pradesh and the Bundelkhand type package for Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra were bound to attract industries to these regions, he said. The party would take all steps to help in the industrialisation of the State, he said.

Smart cities

BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi proposed to develop 100 smart cities across the country and the State unit planned to ask him to develop the new capital of the residuary State of AP as a smart city. For the State to develop on expected lines, it was essential that the BJP get to form the government at the Centre and so the onus was on the voters to elect the BJP-TDP alliance candidates to reap the maximum benefits for the State, he said.
