Coming close

In a spirit of camaraderie setting aside formalities, BJP Andhra Pradesh president Kambhapati Haribabu has called on former minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao here.

Their meeting took place at the camp office of the former minister and in the backdrop of increasingly likely electoral alliance of BJP and TDP doing the rounds for sometime now.

However, Mr. Haribabu described it purely a courtesy call. “On my being named president of the newly-formed party unit, Mr. Srinivasa Rao wanted to come and congratulate me. But I was busy attending a series of meetings including discussion on preparing the manifesto,” Mr. Haribabu said.

The BJP leader told him he would come and meet Mr. Srinivasa Rao when he was free.

Late on Wednesday evening, he walked into his camp office at MVP Colony accompanied by city president P. V. Narayana Rao. MLAs U. V. Ramana Murthy Raju, P. Rameshbabu and Ch. Venkatramaiah who joined TDP along with him were present. Visakha Dairy Chairman Adari Tulasi Rao was present.

With a crucial election ahead and BJP and TDP on a comeback trail, one wonders whether it is an indicator of shape of things to come.
