Collector’s appeal

June 13, 2014 10:43 pm | Updated 10:43 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

District Collector Solomon Arokiaraj has called upon people, particularly senior citizens and children, to be alert in view of the severe heat wave in the district during the past few days.

In a statement issued on Friday, he suggested that the general public should complete their daily chores before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m. He noted that a holiday was declared for schools for three days as a precautionary measure. He said that a control room was opened at the Collectorate and a toll free number 1800 425 00002 was provided. Sunstroke victims needing medical aid could call on the number and the 108 ambulance would be sent to shift them to the nearest hospital.
