Doctors warned

Action would be taken against private hospitals and doctors if they failed to cooperate with the District Administration in the diagnosis and treatment of swine flu cases, Collector J. Syamala Rao said here on Thursday.

Every private hospital must have an isolation ward with two to five beds and be proactive in the diagnosis and treatment of swine flu, Mr. Syamala Rao said at a meeting with representatives of the private hospitals, the Indian Medical Association and the AP Nursing Homes Association. “You have to take the legal and social responsibility as far as swine flu treatment is concerned.

Action will be taken according to law if any one does not cooperate”, he said.

Swine flu treatment was included in the Arogyasri health insurance programme but no one was interested in this aspect, the Collector regretted.

He was also not happy that not many from the three organisations have attended the meeting.

The meeting was held following the death of a local on June 18 and another patient brought from Srikakulam on Wednesday.

District Medical and Health Officer U. Swarajya Lakshmi said an awareness meeting on swine flu for all private hospitals' doctors and staff, IMA members and members of APNHA would be held on Saturday.
