Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry D. Purandeswari, who represents Visakhapatnam in the Lok Sabha, has thanked Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal for sanctioning an Integral Coach Factory at Duvvada in the city.

In a letter to the Railway Minister on Tuesday, Ms. Purandeswari hailed the decision to select Visakhapatnam, which is located in an economically strategic location on the East Coast, for setting up the coach factory. Visakhapatnam was already a divisional headquarters of the Railways and had very good road, rail and air connectivity, making it an ideally suited place.

She felt that the decision would help in accelerating the development of Vizag and requested Mr. Bansal to indicate a date for laying the foundation stone for the factory at the earliest.
