Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday laid foundation for the construction of a flyover at NAD Kotha Road and asserted that it would be completed between 18 and 24 months.

Traffic problems persisted even when flyovers were constructed but it was a new experiment in engineering and traffic from no side would be affected, he said.

The problems faced by people waiting at the traffic signals would come to an end once the flyover was completed, the Chief Minister said adding that he had asked the agency tasked with the work to complete it in the stipulated time.

Visakhapatnam West MLA P.G.V.R. Naidu always brought the issue of flyover whenever he met him citing the problems faced by people to his notice.

Though he was going abroad he made it a point to come to lay the foundation to prevent any further delay, Mr Naidu said.

The double rotary flyover will be constructed at a cost of ₹113 crore.

Reiterating his commitment to make the city a tourist hub, he said it would improve employment opportunities vastly.

Mr. Naidu recalled his staying in the city for a week after Cyclone Hudhud struck to restore normalcy and complimented the discipline of people for not bursting crackers following his call to prevent fire accidents.

VUDA Vice-Chairman P. Basanth Kumar said the 8,000 to 10,000 vehicles could pass on the flyover per hour and one lakh per day.

Mr. P.G.V.R. Naidu said only a small meeting was organised to thank the Chief Minister for sanctioning the flyover.

Deputy Chief Minister N. China Rajappa, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, ZP Chairperson Lalam Bhavani, Anakapalle MP Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao, MLCs M.V.V.S. Murthy, Pappala Chalapathi Rao and P.V.N. Madhav and MLAs Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy, VRK Babu, Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar, Palla Srinivasa Rao, Peela Govinda Satyanarayana and P. Vishnukumar Raju and Vijay Nirman chairman S. Vijay Kumar participated.
