‘Piezometers installed to monitor water levels real time’

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu vowed to transform Rayalaseema into a horticulture hub by providing water to all the drought-hit areas in the region.

Addressing the gathering at the Bukkapatnam Cheruvu after taking part in the ‘Jala harati’ on Thursday, Mr. Naidu said efforts were being made to provide water security to every family and permanently put an end to water scarcity.

He reminded people that he fulfilled his promise to revive the Bukkapatnam tank made during the last edition of the Janmabhoomi programme.

He asserting that the government was making sincere efforts to bring Krishna waters to Rayalaseema.

Mr. Naidu said the government had set itself a goal to complete the Polavaram project by 2019.

Mr. Naidu said the government had set up a ‘real time groundwater level monitoring system’ by installing 1,254 piezometers, making the State the first in the country to monitor groundwater levels using such a system.

He said many foreign industrialists, especially from South Korea, were willing to set up units in Anantapur district. Rural youth from the district would be benefited, he said. Earlier in the day, Mr. Naidu was received by party MLAs at the Puttaparthi airport.
