Municipal Corporation of Rajahmundry (MCR) after spending money on infrastructure like water, roads, street-lighting and urban housing, has focused on beautification of city, particularly developing parks for children.
Parks with play tools are getting ready in Jayakrishnapuram, Danvaipeta, Sambhunagar and other areas and new equipment from Pune has already reached the Corporation office.
“Number of skaters has increased in last two months in newly constructed Danvaipeta and Weavers Colony skating rings. Daily parents and children of these areas are spending time in the evenings around the skating rings. There is much activity now,” K. Manik Raj, commissioner, MCR, said.
He said children playing equipment with Rs.15 lakh had already been fixed in Kambala Tank and the new equipment would be arranged in Danvaipeta and Sambhunagar in 10-15 days. “Next summer is going to be fun-filled for children coming from out side and children of Rajahmundry,” said the Commissioner.
Two swimming pools were going to be constructed at a cost of Rs.20 lakh each by the Corporation within a month. Tenders were already floated for this.
The Corporation would appoint trainers in both pools on contract basis.
Basic amenities to Corporation schools were already provided and repairs to school buildings were almost completed.
