Bharadwaj to participate in Dubai Travellers’ Festival

Bharadwaj Dayala, the young motorcyclist from the city who completed a solo motorcycle expedition around the world in 2006, received an invitation to participate in the second Dubai Travellers’ Festival to be held from December 2 to 6.

Bharadwaj was the only Indian invited for the festival where he will be rubbing shoulders with adventure sports enthusiasts from all over the world who have covered continents on motorbike, boat, walked to Makha from their native countries, went round the world in a taxi, scaled mountains, drove through deserts, and done other difficult feats.

The 44-year-old Mr. Bharadwaj earned the distinction of being the first Indian to complete a solo world tour on an Indian-made motorcycle. He left Visakhapatnam on April 2, 2006 and returned on Gandhi Jayanti day next year after covering 47,000 km in five continents and 14 countries on his own and without a sponsor.

He received the invitation to participate in the Dubai festival from Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The festival is being sponsored by Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Centre and will be held at Cultural and Scientific Association, Al Mamzar, in Dubai.

During three days of the festival programme, various types of workshops and contests will be organised. Mr. Bharadwaj will make a presentation on his travel on December 5.
