Two local self-taught artists will be showcasing their paintings at Taiwan in May this year.
The artists, K.S. Kamesh and G.S. Vasu, have been selected to participated in the International Artist Grand Prize Competition-2018, which is being organised by Taiwan International Contemporary Artists Association (TICAA) in Taiwan from May 17 to 21.
The exhibition will be held at Art Revolution Taipei (ART), which is said to be one among the biggest art fair in Asia.
The artists are excited, as they have been selected after stiff competition from about 4,546 entries from 87 countries.
“Of the total entries 307 works have been selected and we are one among them,” said Kamesh.
After a brief training from renowned artist in the city Mallibabu, they picked up the nuances of fine on their own.
“Both of us are childhood friends and shared the same passion,” said Vasu.
Apart from being a painter, Vasu is also an accomplished sculptor and used fibreglass moulds and wood as medium. Kamesh on the other hand is an art teacher at Bal Bharathi School in NTPC, Visakhapatnam.
Both the artists have been working on different themes for the last couple of years. While Vasu has been working on tribal life, the main theme of Kamesh’s theme is ‘get-together’.
Describing his theme, Kamesh said, “human relationship is the essence of life in this world and in the present context it is losing its meaning amidst workload and stress. My theme ‘get-together’ is to bring back the idea of human relationship through get-togethers.”
Enamoured by the tribal culture, Vasu has taken their daily life style as his central theme. A regular visitor to the Agency areas, Vasu feels that tribal culture and lifestyle is unique and colourful and he has reflected that on his canvas.
Both the artists have used acrylic on canvas, as their medium.
Having participated in a number of arts shows in the country and winning prizes, for Kamesh it will be his second visit to Taiwan.
