Thanks to the elections, Visakhapatnam International Airport has witnessed a number of non-scheduled aircraft, including choppers and small planes operating from the City of Destiny during the last one month.

Apart from Ministers, leaders and star campaigners of the major political parties, who are using choppers and small planes to go on election campaigns from Vizag to East Godavari, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and other districts, an independent candidate contesting for Visakhapatnam Parliamentary constituency has jumped on to the bandwagon. Dr. Kutikuppala Surya Rao has hired a chopper to tour all the Assembly segments and completed his campaign in less than three hours on Monday. More than the campaign, the helicopter hovering at low heights dropping roses and election material on the people caught the attention of voters both in rural and urban areas spread across the city and Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts.

Three non-scheduled flights have been operated on an average every day from Visakhapatnam International Airport during the last one month, according to official sources.
