With the introduction of three technical courses, spread over a period of one year to one month, veteran cinematographer and film director M.V. Raghu’s school of cinematography is set for launch in December.

Focusing on three main heads such as professional cinematography (one year), digital cine camera technology (three months) and fast-track course in filmmaking (one month), the pilot batch of 30 students will be trained in a range of crafts that suit the art of contemporary filmmaking at the M.V. Raghu Film School of Cinematography.

Fundamentals of story, screenplay and direction along with training in digital formats, creative lighting effects, frame composing, graphics and documentary shooting involved in the 24 crafts of filmmaking will be taught in the newly launched school.

“Digital cinematography plays a crucial role in cinema. It needs a certain amount of dexterity and scientific approach to handle the lenses and capture the shots aptly. This can be provided through quality-oriented modules like the ones we offer,” says Mr. Raghu.

HoD of Journalism and Mass Communication, Andhra University, P. Bobby Vardhan ,said that he would make all efforts to help the school ink MoU with AU.

“With Vizag becoming one of the main cinema hubs post bifurcation of the State, certificate courses will add value to the aspirants to seek jobs and explore different avenues in both silver and small screens. Tying up with AU will help realise this dream,” he said.

When it comes to cinema, port city stands next to Hyderabad, says star-maker L. Satyanand.

“Quality trainers are essential to help groom the younger generation and pick up the nuances of cinematography. With the kind of domain expertise that Mr. Raghu has, I am sure the school will generate skilled crafts-men who aspire to make a mark in filmmaking,” he says.
