CII to host Partnership Summit again in city

Exploring possibility of hiring cruise liner

June 07, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 16, 2016 11:19 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

After the phenomenal success of the CII Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam last year, the CII has decided to hold another Partnership Summit to focus on Sunrise State as the USP of Navya Andhra early next year.

Announcing this at a meeting held on industries and service sector as part of the Navanirmana Deeksha here, CII-AP chairman G.S. Shiv Kumar said on Monday that on the request of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu they had decided to hold the summit in Visakhapatnam.

He said this time they might hire a cruise liner to host the summit on-board with accommodation facility for 2,000 delegates from India and abroad. “We had to toil hard to organise the summit at APIIC grounds in Harbour Park in the newly-formed State last time amid serious doubts over its success. The city also does not have permanent structure like other metros to host international meets of such a size and scale,” he said.

Requesting the government to expedite the construction of a convention centre in the city as quickly as possible, he said they had decided tentatively January 8 to 10 as the dates for hosting Partnership Summit-2017.

Mr. Shiv Kumar, who is the CEO of Maple Software, said last time 328 MoUs were signed envisaging an investment of Rs.4.67 lakh crore. He said the realisation of investment proposals had so far touched 20 per cent surpassing the highest achievement of 14 per cent in Gujarat.

He said this time also they would hold the summit in association with the State Government and the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce.
