Chittoor MP N. Sivaprasad, accompanied by members of Telugu Nadu Students Federation (TNSF), staged a novel protest sporting 'flowers in the ears', at Sri Venkateswara University's (SVU) Tarakarama Stadium, here on Friday. Expressing their dissent over the Centre’s ‘negligent attitude’ towards the State and failure to implement the promises made before State bifurcation, the protesters demanded BJP leaders to fulfill provisions of the Reorganisation Act.

“It is at this same location (SVU's Tarakarama Stadium) Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised people of Andhra Pradesh to extend all support from the Central government in building a new state. However, recent actions have made their intentions clear, including no allocations in budget crippling the vision of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. We demand them to live up to the promises,” Dr. Sivaprasad said. He further said sporting 'flowers in the ears' was a symbolic demonstration as on how Mr. Modi (and BJP) has fooled people of the State and warned that failure to meet their demands would result in widespread protests.

Rally taken out

Earlier, the protesters took out a massive rally from the university premises to the stadium.
