Demolition of the dolphin-shaped structure has begun
VUDA Children Theatre, a popular venue at Siripuram for conferences, cultural programmes and meetings, will be reconstructed.
Demolition of the dolphin-shaped structure has begun. The new building with a totally new design and many more amenities for children will be called VUDA Children Arena.
VUDA finalised proposals and designs to develop the premises into a cultural hub, adding many more amenities and attractions. Keeping the importance of Vizag as cultural capital both at state and national level, VUDA Vice-Chairman Kona Sasidhar took the initiative to get it reconstructed with international standards and rededicate it to the cause of children and cultural fraternity.
The Children's Theatre was inaugurated on November 14, 1994, by the then chairman of VUDA T. Suryanaryana Reddy.
Designs with unique features have been selected to develop the arena with facilities for children activities, conduct of cultural events and seminars, workshops and conferences of national and international standard. Increase of seating capacity to 600, realignment of stage making it suitable to a variety of performances, advanced lighting and sound system and technical arrangements and other works are taken up.
Though the area is suitable for developing many profit-oriented commercial projects, VUDA is committed for promoting it as a children arena and a popular cultural centre, asserts Mr. Sasidhar.
The work has been launched aiming for completion by November.
The new structure will have cellar plus ground floor to facilitate kids' activities and other regular programmes to go on separately without any interruption.
