An unidentified person slit the throat of a woman with a glass piece and snatched away around 50 gms of gold chain from her at HB Colony area under MVP Police Station limits in the city on Tuesday.
The incident took place in a flat at an apartment complex and the victim has been identified as L. Vasantha. She was admitted to a private hospital in the city, where her condition is said to be stable.
Inspector of MVP Police Station M Mahesh said the unidentified person gained entry into the flat when the woman was alone and threatened her to part with the gold chain.
When she refused to give the chain, the man slit her throat and snatched away the gold chain that she was wearing.
Vasantha’s daughter Prameela who just returned home from school noticed her mother in a pool of blood and alerted her father L Kishore.
Vasantha was admitted to a corporate hospital immediately.
The police have registered a case and investigation is on.
