Certificate racketeer may have ended life, says DCP

January 02, 2015 11:34 pm | Updated 11:34 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

On the suspicious death of Mamidi Murali Krishna (39) of Mamidi Global Education and HR Solutions Private Limited on Thursday, the police believe that it appears to be a suicide.

The body of Murali Krishna was found slumped on the driver’s seat of a Tata Safari by the PM Palem police near the Yendada petrol bunk on Thursday evening.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) T. Ravi Kumar Murthy, the initial investigation points to suicide by consuming poison. “There were no external injuries on the body, except for some strains of fluid oozing out from the mouth and nostrils, but we can confirm the cause and time of death only after getting the post mortem report. The viscera have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Hyderabad, to ascertain if there are some traces of poison,” said the DCP. The case has become a sensational one, as Murali Krishna was arrested by the City Task Force on December 10, for running a nation-wide fake certificate racket that ran into crores of rupees. He had come out on bail five days ago and the investigation was on. “We understand that he was in a big financial mess and that would have compelled him to take the extreme step. But we have kept all options open including murder, as no suicide note was found near the body. Moreover, two days ago he closed down his Gajuwaka branch also,” said the DCP.

The police also ascertained the call data record and were working on his movement before his death.

The case was handed over to the CCS and a special team led by ACP Ramesh Kumar is heading the investigation.
