Cerebral palsy camp organised

Visakhapatnam Range DIG Soumya Mishra on Sunday inaugurated a cerebral palsy camp for children debilitated by the disease and organised by Ramakrishna Mission. At the camp at Teja Clinic on Old Jail Road, eight children were administered the imported Botax injection and given other medicines totalling Rs.80,000.

Ms. Mishra called upon NGOs and philanthropists to come forward and help such children.

Swami Ganesananda of Ramakrishna Mission, Anakapalle Circle Inspector Papa Rao, doctors Vijendra, M.S. Pratima and Rajitha participated.

Office-bearers

General Manager of Orissa Stevedores Ltd J.K. Nayak has been elected as the president for 2010-11.

He succeeds P.K. Das, Commissioner of Income Tax. The office-bearers were elected at the annual general meeting of the organisation held at Jagannath temple, Daspalla Hills.

The other office-bearers include vice-president CBI DSP Sarladas Mishra, secretary Bijay Mahapatra, joint secretary D. Das, treasurer R.K. Mishra and cultural secretary Seema Mishra.

11 held

Police on Sunday took 11 persons into custody to prevent betting in cricket. According to ACP (East) M. Krishna Murthy Naidu, six persons involved in cases earlier and five suspected to take up betting were arrested as a preventive measure.
