What started off with a collection of 1,100 playlets two years ago has now crossed a total of 3,500 dramas catering to its ardent readers located in different parts of the country.
It was celebration time for ‘Rangasai Nataka Grandhalayam’, the first of its kind library of dramas and manuscripts on Telugu theatre, on the occasion of its second anniversary here on Friday.
The free library has reached out to its diverse readers situated in different places like Warangal, Hyderabad, Khammam, Guntur, Vijayawada, Berhampur, and Chennai apart from the city. The main object of the library was to encourage the younger generation understand the significance of playlets and help them pick up the nuances of the art, library’s founder-president A.V.V.S. Murthy, popularly known as ‘Badamgir’ Sai, said.
“Theatre art leads you to a different world. It relaxes your mind, relieves stress and strengthens your personality. It is our responsibility to keep the old tradition alive and pass on the age-less art form to the next generation. My ambition is to stock a collection of 20,000 dramas in the library,” he said.
