‘CBI raids an act of vengeance'

August 19, 2011 11:56 am | Updated 11:56 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

YSR Congress Party leaders Nedurumalle Padmanabha Reddy, Koyya Prasad Reddy and Pothala Prasad Reddy have described the magnitude of ongoing CBI raids on the companies and residence of Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and his close relatives, as unprecedented in the history of the CBI.

The investigating agency should conduct similar raids on all political leaders and not single out a person, they said.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, they said that it was an act of vengeance and political vendetta by the ruling Congress governments at the Centre and in the State. The leaders expressed anguish at the way the young leader was being hounded by both the Congress and the TDP.

The leaders expressed optimism that their party president would come out unscathed out of the present imbroglio. Unable to face him on the political front, they were trying to attack him through the CBI, they said .

The tremendous response Jaganmohan Reddy is receiving at present in his Odarpu Yatra in the Krishna District is a clear proof of the confidence he enjoys among the common people. The people have not taken any of the charges being levelled against him seriously, the leaders opined.
