‘Capital-centric development will lead to backlash’

March 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 08:17 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The capital-centric development proposed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will lead to a backlash from the people of the backward north Andhra and Rayalaseema districts, CPI (Marxist) Polit Bureau member B.V. Raghavulu said.

At a seminar on “North Andhra backwardness – reasons – solutions”, organised by the party here on Friday, as part of its forthcoming 21st All India Mahasabha to be held in the city, he said it was unfortunate that the CM, who initially spoke of decentralised development, now wants growth only around the Capital, ignoring the other two regions.

It was nothing but a repeat of Mr. Naidu’s ‘Hyderabad-mistake’, which he himself had admitted before the State bifurcation.

Development of all regions would prevent the migration in search of employment, besides ensuring equitable development, he said.
