Cancel MoU on library site: MLC

Opposing the move to hand over the site of district library to a private company, Pratyusha Associates, MLC M.V.S. Sarma has demanded that since the time agreed in the MoU was over the agreement should be cancelled.

Former Union Energy Secretary E.A.S. Sarma said public properties should be protected through movements.

A signature campaign was carried out on the demand by Poura Grandhalayala Seva Samiti at the building near Melody theatre where the library is housed, according to the samithi president B.L. Narayana.

In a memorandum submitted to the District Collector, since the library was being run in a narrow lane at Suryabaugh and the noise and commercial atmosphere were not conducive for the library.

They demanded that the library should be shifted immediately to another building and the agreement should be cancelled and a new building should be constructed with the own funds of Grandhalaya Samstha.
