A call to observe 60 + Earth Hour 2012 on Saturday by switching off lights from 8.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. was given by a group of organisations in the city.
The Visakhapatnam chapters of Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-conditioner Engineers (ISHRAE), Fire and Safety Association of India, and Builders Association of India, in association with Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan and Gayatri Vidya Parishad have appealed to the people to observe the Earth Hour to control global warming which is the biggest threat the planet faced today. Climate change had already started, but it was not too late to take action and there was still time for one to be part of the solution as Earth Hour created awareness of sustainability issues, they said. Founder Principal of GVP Degree College D. Dakshina Murthy on Friday released the leaflet in the presence of present principal Rajaganapathi, social worker D. Rajagopal Reddy, Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan director Vasu Prakash and ISHRAE convenor K. Leela Prasad.
