Supporting either Telugu Desam or YSR Congress in the May 7 election means that the vote is for the BJP, according to AICC SC Cell chairman Koppula Raju.
Telugu Desam or YSR Congress would ultimately support the communal BJP, while the Congress was the only secular party and it has also done a lot for the SCs, STs, Muslims and other minorities and hence the party should be supported, Mr. Raju said at a press conference. The Congress also provided reservation for Muslims.
The Congress could manage to get a lot of benefits for Andhra Pradesh from the Centre in the bifurcation process, he claimed.
Several SC sections extended support to the party and more number of seats have been allotted to SCs this time compared to last time, Mr. Raju said.
The former senior IAS officer, who was also Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation here in the past, said Visakhapatnam would get more importance after the process of bifurcation was completed and it would be a crucial city in the State. “Hence it is important for the people to elect a local candidate as their MP who has lot of understanding about the city and its needs and can fight well to secure all it needs,” Mr. Raju said while urging people to elect party candidate Bolisetty Satyanarayana (Satya).
Mr. Satya said India has emerged as a major economic force in the world and it was essential that the Congress should be continued in power to sustain the country’s growth.
