Call to emulate Gurajada

Garlanding of the statues of Gurajada Appa Rao and holding of literary meetings at various places in the city marked the 152nd birth anniversary of the writer and social reformer on Sunday.

VUDA in-charge Vice-Chairman M.V. Seshagiri Babu, Secretary G.C. Kishore Kumar and other officials garlanded the statue of Gurajada at Gurajada Kalakshetram and paid rich tributes to him.

The in-charge Vice-Chairman recalled the contribution of Gurajada to literature and social reformation through drama. Mr. Seshagiri Babu urged the students of Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, who were present, to draw inspiration from the great writer and social reformer. School Director Ch. Vasu Prakash spoke.

Quiz contest

A quiz on Gurajada’s ‘Kanyasulkam’ was jointly organised by Sahitya Surabhi and MOSAIC at the Visakhapatnam Public Library in which four teams participated. The quiz was conducted by scholar Peri Ravi Kumar.

At a programme organised by Sahiti Sravanthi, State unit president K. Satyaji garlanded the statue of Gurajada near the RTC Complex and paid tributes.

Sahiti Sravanthi Visakhapatnam unit president N. Ramachalam said it was unfortunate that Gurajada, who was worthy of emulation not only by Telugus but by all Indians, had not been given his due by the governments.
