Ringing in the Christmas cheer a month ahead, The Park celebrated the cake mixing ceremony on Monday. The heady aroma of rich dry fruits and spirits beckoned visitors and hotel guests to the hotel’s poolside venue Aqua. Heaps of cherries, dates, plums, assorted dry fruits, black currants, dried figs and glace cherries were placed on a mixing tray.

Donning gloves, the guests and hotel staff mixed all the ingredients with spirits. The cake mixing tradition dates back to the 17th century in Europe. Today, it is a ritual celebrated all over the world.

“There will be a takeaway cake counter at the portico of the hotel from December 5 onwards. We are also catering to bulk orders placed in advance,” said hotel’s general manager Jaydeep Biswas.
