Unidentified persons gained entry into a locked house in sector-8 of MVP Colony and decamped with over 230 grams of gold ornaments and some cash. However, while fleeing they left behind silver ornaments.

According to the police, the burglary took place when the house owner was away with his family for pilgrimage. Owner of the house K. Appa Rao, retired bank officer, left for Kakinada in East Godavari, on Monday and from there went on pilgrimage with family members.

On Thursday evening, his tenants saw the front door broke open and immediately called Mr. Appa Rao.

Mr. Rao informed his relatives who rushed to the spot and informed the police. Circle inspector K Shanmukha Rao said the thieves sneaked into the house by breaking the front door.

They ransacked the house and decamped with 230 grams of gold and some currency.

Clues team and sniffer dogs were pressed into service. The police are suspecting that it could be the handiwork of some local gang and expressed that they will nab the accused soon.
