Budget a big con on people: Jayati Ghosh

March 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:01 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The General Budget 2015-16 presented by Union Finance Minister is a big con on the people of India, Professor in Centre for Economic Studies and Planning in Jawaharlal Nehru University Jayati Ghosh said.

Just as the Finance Minister did in July 2014 he has presented inflated tax avenues and then in the mid term review would declare that the revenues are not forthcoming and call for cut in expenditures. The Finance Minister and the Prime Minister’s Office would then arbitrarily decide on which heads of expenditure the axe would fall, she told The Hindu.

Prof Ghosh was in the city on Saturday to participate in a seminar on the continuing global economic crisis alternative development trajectories organised by the city unit of the CPI (M).
