In a bid to establish his pre-eminence as a narrator of jokes, Nanduri Prabhaakar, an employee of the public sector telecommunication major BSNL, is staging a Guinness record-breaking performance of 24 hours non-stop narration of jokes.
He already has a Limca Record under his belt for over 30 hours of non-stop narration of jokes. In 2009 he had attempted a Guinness record breaking performance which was not accepted due to technical reasons. Following regular correspondence with the Guinness officials he is now organising a Joke Marathon that is scheduled to be inaugurated on Saturday morning. By Sunday morning he hopes to have broken the record of 24 hours set by Mike Hessman of Ohio, the USA in 1992.
This time round Prabhaakar is going according to the guidelines set by the Guinness Records. The entire programme is going to be documented and evaluated as per the guidelines. There will be two judges for a session of two hours at a time monitoring and evaluating his performance, he explained.
The BSNL is supporting the event by providing the venue for the event. The programme is being organised to raise funds for Sishu Vikas and Omkar & Lions School for the deaf.
The event would be inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Information Technology and Communication Killi Kripa Rani on Saturday, Senior General Manager Telecom District Visakhapatnam P Nagaraju said. He along with General Manager (CM) RMM Krishna wished Prabhaakar all success in his endeavour. Prominent persons from the city, including Vijay Nirman’s S Vijaykumar, chairman of Sishu Vikas Y Uma Rani, chairman of Mohsin Group Kasim S Mehdi would participate in the event, Prabhaakar said.
