Members of Brahmin community took out a rally and held up the traffic on the National Highway 5 at the Satyam Junction on Sunday in protest against the derogatory portrayal of the community in the film ‘Denikaina Ready’.
The community members held a meeting at Krishna Mandiram here on Sunday and decided to intensify their agitation against film maker Mohan Babu and others for their picturising women and especially women of Brahmin community in poor light. They flayed the film makers for demeaning women.
The speakers came down heavily on the physical attacks and threats being held out against the members of their community for their criticism of the film and cited the attack in Hyderabad near Mohan Babu’s residence and also the reports of threats to film writer Jonnavittula.
Speakers expressed anguish at the film makers targeting the Brahmin community, showing them in poor light and ridiculing them for the sake of earning money. The assembled members took out a rally and formed a human chain on the National Highway 5 at the Satyam Junction for some time. The protestors carried placards protesting the targeting of the community. Advocate Kandala Srinivasa Rao, S. Gopal, member Visakhapatnam Port Trust Charan, retired DSP T.S.R. Prasad, Vedula Subrahmanya Sastry and Gopala Sastry, among others were also present.
