Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief Botcha Satyanarayana met party leaders from the city and held discussions on strengthening of the party here on Friday.

Though the party leaders are calling it as a meet to strengthen the party, it is seen more as a means to keep the flock together in view of the developments in Parliament on the reorganisation of the State. It’s learnt the PCC chief asked the leaders to stand for the party and they would benefit in future. The second rung leadership was strong and there would be bright future for them.

‘Good package’

Later fielding a few questions from the media before leaving in a hurry to catch a flight, Mr. Satyanarayana maintained that the package for Seemandhra was good and it could spell the development of all regions unlike in the past when all development was concentrated only in Hyderabad.

When categorically asked whether he was happy with the package for north Andhra, he said: “We need a better package. We would have got a better one had we bargained from the beginning.” Nonetheless, the Prime Minister has announced financial packages, on industry and other areas as never before and it could spurt all round growth of Seemandhra.

Asked whether he could convince the people of north Andhra, he shot back: “How can I convince them, when I am myself not fully convinced?”

He, however, said more packages could be achieved for Seemandhra and north Andhra.

PCC secretary S.A. Rahman, City Congress president Behara Bhaskara Rao, Mahila Congress president Pedada Ramani Kumari and former Chairman of VUDA PSN Raju were among those who were present.
