Slamming the decision of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to stick to his decision on building the State capital in a region that is highly fertile, Congress leader Bolisetti Satyanarayana has likened the Chief Minister to a real estate agent.

In an open letter to the Chief Minister released here on Friday, the Congress contestant for Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency, Mr. Satyanarayana, faulted the decision of the government to locate the capital along River Krishna saying it would destroy the rice bowl of the State. “There are abundant barren lands available right from Kadapa to Srikakulam where you can build distributed capital which will result overall growth of all 13 districts,” pointed out the Congress leader.

“People of Andhra Pradesh believed your election promises and gave their mandate. After getting the mandate you have started thinking like a real estate agent. Soon people will realise that you are doing this with an intention to help those who have supported you financially and have decided to build the capital in heart of the rice bowl. Remember that all those nature lovers, youth, environmentalists worldwide who are working relentlessly to protect the agricultural lands from conversion will not keep quiet and allow you to destroy the treasure belongs to the future generation,” Mr. Satyanarayana said.

The opposition to wanton destruction of the delicate eco-system of the region identified for development of new State capital would snowball into a major movement with people’s participation, he noted.

Visakha Utsav

Further, Mr. Satyanarayana urged the Chief Minister not to hold the celebrations of Visakha Utsav till shelter was provided to all those who lost their homes during cyclone Hudhud.
