AP taking bold steps to transform farm sector, he says

Microsoft co-founder and chair of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Bill Gates was thrilled to get a glass-framed Bobbili veena and a few other items as mementos from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during his maiden visit to Visakhapatnam.

During a brief felicitation to Mr. Gates at the end of valedictory of the AP AgTech Summit conducted jointly by Andhra Pradesh Government, CII and Dalberg, Mr. Naidu presented him along with the famous veena, a hand-woven sari of Uppada (East Godavari) and a portrait of the co-founder of Microsoft.

While going round the stalls put up at the summit , Mr. Gates expressed his satisfaction over a large number of people using smartphones.

Mr. Naidu said “Mr. Gates was surprised to see the use of smartphones on such a grand scale.”

In his address, Mr. Gates highly praised Mr. Naidu for his vision declaring that the Chief Minister not only believed that the future of Andhra Pradesh was linked to the future of small farmers but also successful in translating his belief into action.

He said “on everything from improving roads and connectivity to investing in micro-irrigation and digital soil mapping, AP is taking bold steps to transform its agricultural sector.”
