Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh has strongly opposed the Centre’s decision for strategic sale Dredging Corporation of India (DCI).

BMS leader K. Bhavani Shankarudu said on Friday that they believed that the purpose of establishing public sector units was not to churn profits but to generate employment and be a role model in implementing good labour policies duly taking labour interests into consideration by adopting labour friendly and welfare schemes in letter and spirit irrespective of party in power.

“Thus any move to derail such objectives shall be opposed tooth and nail irrespective of any party in power. BMS states that the then UPA has initiated disinvesting profit-making PSUs and the NDA government too has been toeing the same line,” he said.

He said BMS had been opposing disinvestment from the beginning irrespective of the party in power. “It is sad to note that the UPA Government initiated with disinvestment of 21% share in DCI and the present NDA Government is also following the same policy blindly.” He also warned the government of serious consequences if it neglected the working class and its interests.
