BJP wants change of Araku LS seat

April 08, 2014 11:34 pm | Updated November 19, 2016 12:14 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

BJP leaders see the allotment of Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha and North Assembly constituencies as a settled issue in the party’s alliance with TDP.

“We are also prepared to contest from Paderu Assembly constituency. Only from Araku Lok Sabha the party is ready for a change,” said a BJP leader from the district involved in that party’s discussions.

BJP Andhra Pradesh president K. Haribabu had discussions with TDP leaders in Hyderabad on Monday. For three days now the Election Committee met in Vijayawada and ascertained the views of leaders from all over the State.

Wherever BJP has been allotted Assembly constituencies, TDP leaders are said to have been objecting. There are two, three ticklish issues to be finalised like Narsannapeta, Gajapathinagaram etc. During the next two days, the issues would be resolved after which it would take another two days to finalise the names for sending to Central Election Committee, said the leader.

Election schedule will be notified for Seemandhra on April 12 and the last date for filing of nominations is April 19.
