BJP has criticised the abnormal power cuts being imposed on the people in the State and on the top of it increasing the tariff by above 25 per cent.
At a meeting of the city BJP executive at Kannada Kaveri Kalyanamantapam on Sunday, its national executive member K. Haribabu compared the situation in the State with that of Gujarat where even in remote areas power was being supplied for 24 hours.
The party launched protest in solidarity with the indefinite fast launched by State BJP president G. Kishen Reddy and MLAs Y. Lakshminarayana and Y. Srinivas Reddy in Hyderabad on power situation.
In all Parliamentary constituencies in the State ‘Praja Chaitanya Sadassus’ would be held and for Visakapatnam it would be conducted on April 8. Party senior leader P.V. Chalapathi rao, Bandaru Ranga Mohana Rao, and P.V.N. Madhav participated.
Meanwhile, Visakhapatnam Apartment Residents Welfare Association has passed a resolution opposing tooth and nail the increase in power tariff under different slabs, according to its president C.H.L.N.Sastry.
Addressing a meeting in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, he announced support to agitations launched by political parties against the hike.
