BJP city president M Nagendra has exuded confidence that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry ordered into tampering of records will go fully into all complaints submitted by people whether it is government or private land.
It would go into the complaints being submitted by hundreds of people to it, he said at a press conference here. He, however, added the party had not taken any stand on the issue.
Asked about the BJP Floor Leader in Assembly P. Vishnu Kumar Raju’s describing SIT inquiry as eyewash, he said his view also should be taken into consideration.
Mr. Nagendra said the State government de-notifying its highways to allow continuance of liquor shops would amount to diluting the spirit of the Supreme Court judgment.
He expressed total support to women agitating against location of liquor shops in residential areas or close to schools or temples. Officials were not justified in stating that such schools or temples were not recognised by the government departments, he said.
Instead of locating shops in residential areas creating problems for women, schoolgirls or residents in general, the government should allot site for buildings and collect rent for liquor shops, Mr. Nagendra suggested. Those needing liquor would not mind going some distance for it, he said.
Mr. Nagendra said all apprehensions about GST proved wrong as the rollout was smooth. MP K Haribabu went around the shops and found that none encountered problems.
He said the 22-day Pandit Deenadayal Vistar Yojana for strengthening the party at booth-level would conclude on Thursday, the birth anniversary of Jan Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mukherjee. With the “vistaraks” interacting with cadres of 1630 booths in the city BJP was as strong as any other political party, he said.
