BJP faults VUDA auction of plots

August 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 09:57 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

BJP found fault with the government and the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority for auction of plots at Dakamarri at prices much higher than market rate.

Addressing media here on Friday BJP City president M Nagendra said VUDA is meant to develop the master plan for the region and develop the infrastructure in newly developing areas to fulfil the overall objective of affordable housing for all and it was not right on its part to auction plots at unrealistic rates.

Allotment by lottery

The VUDA had earlier allotted plots by lottery and residents in all these layouts are grateful to VUDA for helping them realise their dream of building a home. By taking the auction route VUDA has pushed these plots beyond the reach of the middle class, he said.

VUDA had officially declared that it would not go for auction of plots and yet it has taken that route, MR. Nagendra said.
